Workshop Series Options:

The following topics cover a broader range of material and are therefore best presented as a series of at least 3 sessions with the option to extend up to 10 sessions or a full semester.
Workshops can be presented in person or online.

Movement For Singers – for singers and voice teachers

This workshop series introduces a wide variety of awareness-building / movement practices, including breath work, yoga, visualization, self-myofascial release, Laban Movement, and Linklater in the hopes that students will discover the tools that will best support and enhance their singing practice.

For the final 10 minutes of each session, students will have the opportunity to vocalize, so that they can feel for themselves the effects of somatic practices on their singing.

Building Breath Awareness for Optimal Efficiency – for singers & voice teachers

This workshop can be presented as a one, two, or three-part series.

If you cannot feel something, it’s hard to change it. Many singers struggle with breath; whether it’s under-breathing, over-breathing, running out of air, or breathing in ways that create excess tension; it’s a topic worth exploring! This workshop will provide you with a variety of tools for unlocking the power source of your vocal instrument: your breath!

  • Part One: Anatomy of Breathing
  • Part Two: Breath exercises for building awareness
  • Part Three: Breath for singing

Diction Deep-Dive: Minimizing Effort & Maximizing Efficiency – for singers, voice teachers and speakers

An immersive diction workshop (no IPA or phonetics!) designed to help singers & speakers cut down on the extra engagement of the articulators (tongue, lips, jaw) as well as the surrounding muscles of the neck, head and face to free up the vocal tone.

Topics will include:

  • Increasing awareness & release tension of the tongue, jaw & face
  • Consonant articulation (fricatives, plosives, voiced, unvoiced, etc.)
  • Vowel production & diphthongs
  • Speaking exercises & tongue twisters to tie it all together.
  • Optimizing resonance.

“May all beings everywhere be happy and free, and may the thoughts, words, and actions of my own life contribute in some way to that happiness and to that freedom for all.” ~ Closing Mantra
